SMITHFIELD – Criminal charges have been filed against a 37 year-old man who allegedly stole a car then sold it to a salvage yard. Thanks to the quick work of detectives with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was recovered before it was crushed at the salvage yard.
On December 23, 2023, a Benson woman reported her Mercury passenger car had been stolen while she was incarcerated.
Christopher Lee Elliot of Black Pine Lane, Angier was arrested Feb. 6 and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
