Members of a rural Johnston County church were temporarily without water service last week.
A thief stole the water pump from the Bentonville Disciple Church at 8566 Devil’s Racetrack Road outside of Four Oaks.
On June 5th, a church member pulled up at the church and noticed a door to the well house was open. They walked over to the well and noticed the water pump and had stolen. The pump was valued at $250.
The incident is under investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
