Three Injured In NC 42 Crash; Driver Charged

KENLY — A morning commute turned chaotic Tuesday when a passing attempt on N.C. 42 ended in a head-on collision involving three vehicles, sending three people to the hospital, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:35 a.m. on N.C. 42 East near Creech Church Road.

Troopers said a white pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Marco Alarcon, of Wilson, was traveling westbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle and crossed into the oncoming lane. The pickup collided head-on with an eastbound blue SUV.
A blue pickup traveling behind the SUV was also struck as the driver attempted to avoid the crash.

Three people, including a pregnant woman, were transported to WakeMed with injuries described as non-life threatening.
The Highway Patrol charged Alarcon with careless and reckless driving, unsafe passing and no operator’s license.
