Smithfield Police credit a JoCoReport.com viewer who recognized a suspect wanted for a robbery at the West Smithfield McDonald’s for helping to solve the case.
On December 6th, the suspect went into the restroom and assaulted a man before grabbing his wallet and attempting to flee. The victim yelled that he had been robbed and the suspect turned and threw the wallet back at the victim before fleeing in a purple pickup.
Smithfield Police released a photo of the suspect to JoCoReport.com and a viewer who recognized the suspect called police. Police identified the man as 24 year-old Christopher Maurice Ellis Jr. of Selma. Ellis was arrested this week by Selma Police and charged with common law robbery.
He was jailed under a $40,000 bond.
