Wendell’s Town Manager has announced plans to retire later this year. Town Manager Teresa Piner has been in Wendell for 23 years. She has served the last 6 years as Town Manager. Previously she served as planning director for 17 years.
Prior to her employment with the Town of Wendell, Piner served in law enforcement with UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety and with the Davie County Sheriff’s Department.
“I am committed to working with the Town Board and staff to ensure a seamless transition with the selection of my successor. The actual date of my retirement will be determined once the Board completes the Town Manager recruitment process,” Piner said.
“I have experienced a successful public service career for which I will be eternally grateful. I have been provided many opportunities and challenges in preparing Wendell for its current growth and bright economic future. Together with the boards I have, our incredible staff, and the greater community, we have created a vibrant community in which to work and raise a family. It has been my honor to be a small part of Wendell’s success.”
The search is just getting underway for a replacement for Piner, however a timeline for the hiring of a new manager has not been announced.
