Trooper Involved In Multi-Car Accident

A state trooper just days away from retirement was involved in a multi-car crash Tuesday afternoon in Johnston County.

The wreck happened on US 70 at Pearl Street in Princeton.

The driver of a white Silverado pickup reportedly pulled onto US 70 into the path of a brand new Western Star tractor trailer.  The tractor trailer t-boned the truck causing the Silverado to spin around colliding with the Highway Patrol cruiser that was waiting at the traffic light on Pearl Street to turn onto US 70.

Debris from the accident struck two additional vehicles, including a car being operated by a student from Princeton High School.

The NC Highway Patrol, Princeton Police, Johnston County EMS and Princeton Fire Department responded to the accident.

No injuries were reported in the initial crash but a second rear-end collision occurred on the opposite side of US 70 sending one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
