Two Drug Suspects Arrested Following Joint Investigation

SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department Narcotics Unit on February 20, 2023 arrested Kelsey Wilkins, age 29, and Timothy Sauls, age 36, both from Selma, for multiple narcotics violations. The arrests stem from an ongoing joint operation with the NC SBI and ATF.

Police said multiple purchases of methamphetamine and heroin were made from Wilkins and Sauls, separately and together, over a period of time. Approximately 7 ounces of methamphetamine and 3 grams of heroin were seized during the undercover operation.

Wilkins was charged with 8 counts of trafficking methamphetamine, conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, sell methamphetamine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, and sell heroin.

Sauls was charged with 8 counts of trafficking methamphetamine and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.

Police said more charges are pending.

They were held in the Johnston County Jail.
