Two Eagles Receive Good Citizenship Award

On Sunday, February 23rd, a double Eagle Scout Ceremony was held at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church for Eagle Scouts James Michael Culpepper (left) and Micah Aaron Hill (right) from Boy Scout Troop 124 of Clayton.

James is currently the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and he is also in the 11th grade at Clayton High School. James plans to become an Engineer and attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He is the son of Phil and Linda Culpepper of Clayton.

For his Eagle Scout project, James built picnic tables and a rain collection system for the Prairie Ridge Ecostation at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

Micah is currently the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and he is also in the 11th grade at Corinth Holders High School. Micah plans to pursue a career in Political Science and attend Law School. He is the son of Dale and Amanda Hill of Clayton.

For his Eagle Scout project, Micah collected and donated 2,400 cans of food for the Clayton Area Ministries and organized a 5K Charity Event to support his efforts.

During their Eagle Scout Ceremony, both James and Micah were presented with the Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236.
