One person was stabbed, another individual sustained a head injury during an assault in Smithfield on Saturday afternoon.
Smithfield Police said they were called to an address in the 400 block of Brogden Road around 2:30pm. Officers said two individuals had been drinking all day when a fight started.
Gregory Hines, 57, of Blount Street was stabbed in the abdomen and rushed by ambulance to Wake Med. At last report Hines was in stable condition.
Michael Wesley Solomon, 52, of Mallard Road sustained a head injury. He was taken to Johnston Medical Center.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said the incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
