Smithfield Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting Saturday morning.
Shortly after 8:00am today, Boris McCrae, 47, was located in the parking lot of the Soul Food Cafe at 2055 S. Brightleaf Boulevard suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Saturday evening, Police Captain R. Sheppard said McCrae had been discharged from the hospital after undergoing medical care.
Renaldo Frazier, 34, of Smithfield was taken into custody a short time after the shooting. Frazier is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Frazier is being held in the Johnston County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the felony charge on Monday, Aug. 17th.
Police have not disclosed a motive.
