CLAYTON – Police announced Monday afternoon they have recovered a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck involved in a fatal hit and run accident Sunday morning on Highway 70 West. Police also announced they are looking for a second hit and run vehicle.

Monday afternoon, Clayton Police with the help of Raleigh Police seized in Raleigh a 2003 model Silverado that had extensive damage to the left side of the vehicle.

Through accident reconstruction efforts and crime scene evidence, police believe a second vehicle was involved. Investigators are now searching for a light in color GMC Acadia possibly white or silver. The GMC Acadia is possibly a 2007-2010 model. The vehicle should have extensive front end damage and possible right side damage.

Investigators believe that an altercation occurred inside the Chevrolet Silverado, which had stopped partially in the right lane of US 70 West, and two people exited the truck on the left side.

Both individuals and the pickup truck were then struck by the Acadia.

One of the people struck by the Acadia was able to drive the Silverado away from the area.

The deceased victim was dragged several feet where his body was located on the right side of US 70. The Acadia left the area after the collision occurred.

The deceased victim has been identified as Edgardo Antonio Medina, 32, of Raleigh. The second person hit by the truck has been identified as Francisco Gil Gervacio, 42, of Raleigh.

Anyone who has any information regarding the fatal hit and run investigation or any information regarding the GMC Acadia is asked to contact Clayton Police at 919-553-4611.
