Johnston County Commissioners have approved bids for the expansion of the Timothy G. Broome Water Treatment Plant and for a service line project in the Wilson’s Mills Water District.
On July 8th, at the request of Chandra Farmer, Director of Johnston County Public Utilities, Commissioners awarded a $2,447,650 bid to Sanford Contractors Inc. of Sanford, NC for construction work on a 2 million gallon per day expansion at the water treatment plant.
A separate bid of $1,677,000 was awarded to J.S. Haren Company of Athens, TN for construction of a booster pump station at the water plant.
Sanford Contractors, Inc. was also awarded a $2,575,604.85 bid for construction of a 24 inch water main from the water treatment plant to the Wilson’s Mills elevated water tank.
Factoring in technical services including engineering, surveying, permitting and associated costs, the combined projects represent a total expenditure of $9,714,600.
