Wayne County Fire Marshal Issues Burn Ban

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. – The Wayne County Fire Marshal’s Office has issued a burn ban for all of Wayne County, effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026. The ban will stay in place until further notice.

This local ban follows a statewide burn ban issued on March 28, 2026. The county ban allows local officials to enforce the rule and issue penalties to anyone who burns during this time.

Dry conditions, weather that can help fires spread quickly, and little rain in the forecast have increased the risk of wildfires. Because of this, it is important to prevent new fires from starting.

Residents are asked not to burn outdoors until the ban is lifted. This will help protect people, homes, and first responders.
