A shooting late Wednesday night in Wayne County is now being treated as a homicide.
Around 11:52pm, Goldsboro Police received a call of a person who had been shot in the 1100 block of North James Street.
Officers located 30 year-old Eric Donta Covington near the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died as a result of his injuries.
Police said they are treating his death as a homicide. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255. A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
