PIKEVILLE – The Wayne Executive Jetport celebrated the opening of a new corporate hangar Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Pikeville. This new 10,000 square foot hangar will help the Jetport expand operations with tenants already interested in more hangar space. The Wayne Executive Jetport contributes over $12 million annually to the Wayne County economy.
This project was made possible through grant funding with the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Division of Aviation to help local airports with economic development projects. Thanks to the diligent work by staff, $588,000 of grant funding was approved for this $792,000 project.
Brandon Gray, Executive Director of the Wayne Executive Jetport, said, “The Wayne County Board of Commissioners, FAA, NCDOT Division of Aviation, and the Golden Leaf Foundation have made this possible for Wayne County; we are blessed to have such great leadership.”
Wayne Executive Jetport Commission Chairman Greg Ricker added, “I would like to thank the Jetport Commission and the Wayne County Board of Commissioners for their unwavering support over the last two years. All the hard work has made this a reality, and today is a great day for Wayne County and the Wayne Executive Jetport!”
