Occupant Escapes From Burning RV
BENSON – Working smoke alarms are credited with helping one person escape a burning camper-RV this morning. Around 7:30am, the Benson, Elevation and West Johnston Fire Departments were dispatched to a camper-RV fire on Curr-Well Lane.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found a working fire. Crews quickly brought the blaze under control.
Johnston County Deputy Fire Marshal Ryan Parker said the fire was determined to be accidental and caused by a mechanical failure of the furnace. One occupant in the camper escaped without injury after being alerted by working smoke alarms.
