10 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized During Traffic Stop

Approximately 10 pounds of marijuana was found inside a duffle bag in the truck of a car during a traffic stop for speeding on U.S. Highway 70 near Selma on October 13, 2025.

SELMA – A routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 70 near Selma led to a significant drug seizure, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 13, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office SAFE Team stopped a vehicle for speeding. During the stop, a search of the vehicle revealed a duffle bag in the trunk containing several vacuum-sealed packages. The packages contained approximately 10 pounds of marijuana.

The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is around $57,000.

Two individuals were taken into custody at the scene. Their names have not yet been released, pending further investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

  1. Waste of police resources. Leave the weed alone people aren’t going to stop using it so liberate it, and tax it like other states and the illegal nonsense goes away. Weed is the one drug that won the war on drugs a long time ago.

    • You smoke it? It is destroying the reasoning capability of those with undeveloped brains under 25 yoa. Shame on those that want to legalize this extremely powerful drug.
