  1. “The victim received an email, which appeared to be from PayPal”

Y’all keep on allowing the criminal scammers to steal from your elderly relatives. Remember, your potential inheritance is going to criminal scammers and not you.

Knowledge is a powerful thing. Please tell anybody who will listen to NOT believe emails, text messages or anything the scammers are saying over the phone. Do NOT trust the Caller ID. Scammers have the ability to spoof any number they want to. Hell, I had a scammer call me using my own phone number. That is proof they are spoofing numbers, scammer must have been confused and entered my number in the wrong place. The scammers use a PC program named ViciDial.

This came up in a Google search:

    * Call center software, including Vicidial, allows for efficient dialing of numerous phone numbers, increasing the chances of reaching potential victims.

    * Spoofing caller ID: Some software enables the modification of caller ID to make it appear as if the call is coming from a legitimate source.”

  2. I agree. Keep the spamming in the family.
Don’t want to lose that inheritance.

  3. I wish all the local news would talk about this more. Older people do watch the news, that way maybe they would be aware. It is so easy to be tricked.

  4. Family members and friends NEED TO TALK to seniors and warn them about these disgusting people called scummers aka scammers

  5. It is so sad we can’t enjoy our house phones and computers without criminal harassment. My house phone starts ringing at 9:05 in the morning with callers claiming I can get better Medicare coverage, free food cards, money cards that I have won a car and $1,000,000.00 etc. This goes on until 9:00 at night every day, and sometimes on Saturday. I don’t answer my house phone unless I know the number and name, I let the answering machine pick up. It is a sad time when you cannot enjoy your own hard-earned money without someone trying to cheat you. Some of us went to work with headache and body ache to pay into social security and pension to enjoy in our senior years. I say no and no thanks to all call and hang up. I don’t even say yes on the phone for fear someone is recording to use on an automative system.
There needs to be an end to our records being public.
