Afternoon Storms Knock Out Power To Nearly 2,000 Homes In Johnston County

JOHNSTON COUNTY – Afternoon storms knocked out power to nearly 2,000 Duke Energy customers in Johnston County Thursday, with the largest outage reported in the western part of the county.

Approximately 1,878 homes and businesses were without electricity in the McGee’s Crossroads and N.C. 210 area.

A separate outage affected approximately 30 customers along Cleveland Road near Scarlet Oak Run, while another 22 customers were without power along Bailey’s Crossroads Road near Benson.

The storms brought down several trees and power lines in western Johnston County, contributing to the widespread outages.

Duke Energy crews were working Thursday afternoon to restore service to affected customers.
