  1. I feel they should not be open. This article is like advertising for them. Reminds me of a similar story not too long ago for a vape store arrest on Cleveland Rd., which has a daycare next door and elementary school pretty close by. Who in Johnston County is allowing these businesses to be here?

    • Your Town Mayor and Board. Start going to your Town planning and Commissioners meeting and set, watch and listen to what they are allowing to happen in your community. Then start voicing, voting and make a change.

    • Nope. Too much demand. Long history of trying to outlaw drugs and alcohol. I personally think cigarettes and alcohol should be banned but way too much demand and money involved.
They failed with prohibition – and the mafia and such became the suppliers along with the rural bootleggers. Joco had plenty of stills being busted even in the 1980s/1990s. Have not heard of any lately.
If people are going to drink or take drugs, it is best to regulate and control the products. Not all should be made legal like they once were – but that will never stop the demand for them… but then comes the cause and effect reaction of the outlawing of any drug: the cartels and such.

  2. Shut them down. They are Nothing but trouble. The one on Cleveland Road needs to be shut down. Nothing but trouble there. I do not know how they were even allowed to reopen. I would like to say great job to the Four Oaks Police. Chief Anderson is a great Chief compared to the retired Danny Toppings.

  3. Well if the law would start at the top and work their way through the buildings and offices where they work and work their way down the ladder then you mightgey some good progress . The government and the law enforcement is involved in letting it get to the streets to be sold

  4. These ppl are tax paying citizens, who obviously have the means to buy a unit or rent one n open a business in the town. Why did the town approve it? Revenue. And for this exact thing right here…to make a bust. People should look at the whole picture. This starts at the high level, they have to obtain permits and everything….but yet they’re still getting setup n posting bonds etc….trap. simple.

  5. I worked in the planning dept. of another local town government and understand the process.
So my 1st question is why did the Mayor and Commissioners approve them to open next to a daycare?
2nd question, why there wasn’t any background check done by the police dept on the owners?
My guess is because the Mayor and Board is to anxious to just let any business to come in to get that tax dollar!
Community needs to do better voting in your officials!

    • Do these men have past criminal charges? I did not see that mentioned, or maybe I missed it without my glasses – nor have I checked the usual sites to see if indeed they do.
Also, are background checks usually done when someone opens a business – or just for certain people, certain businesses? North Carolina has very lax background checks to purchase firearms – that scares me more in the grand scheme of concerns, however most, if not all, business owners that I have ever known have firearms within reach (or on their body) at their business – especially convenience type stores, gas stations, hotels/motels etc. It has been needed for safety reasons for decades. So, it is surprising these men had no firearm charges listed, which means to me, that for some strange reason they chose not to have protection, or they had legal firearms, lax background checks notwithstanding.
I have, in the past, had a brick and mortar business and never once was a background check asked for or mentioned by anyone during the process. I also had protection handy, though thankfully I never had to use it.
I had a background check and different levels of security clearances when I worked for the federal government – unlike many that do not currently possess any today nor would they even pass the background checks required back then.
Employers can run a background check during the hiring process but I am not sure if any of the towns in JoCo require one to open your own business – which can easily be worked around by putting the business in another persons name.

And lastly yes – most have completely surrendered to a capitalist way of life – and money/tax revenues/corporate greed comes at the expense of people, wildlife, the environment – and the list goes on…

  6. We should legalize weed fully so the government can tax it instead of extorting headshop owners for their share.. which is what is happening here. Shop gets busted, owners loaded with felonies which are mysteriously dropped a week later. But sadly old JoCo folks arent smart enough to see that :^)
