Arrest Made In Shooting Death Of Pit Bull Named Nina

CLAYTON – A 39 year-old Clayton area resident is awaiting trial on felony animal cruelty charges. Katherine Henderson was arrested January 13 by Johnston County deputies after they responded to a 9:21pm domestic-related disturbance call on Caribou Lane.

Authorities allege during the disturbance, and prior to their arrival, Henderson shot her boyfriend’s pit bull dog named Nina in the head with a 9mm handgun. The dog was fatally wounded.

Deputies seized the handgun and over a dozen spent casings as evidence.

Henderson was released on a $50,000 bond pending her trial date.
