Burt Myers Eyes Fourth Win At Southern National Motorsports Park

LUCAMA – Burt Myers has visited victory lane three times at Southern National Motorsports Park. On Saturday, November 7, he’ll attempt to make it four when the 24th Annual North-South Shootout makes its debut at the Wilson County speedway.

Myers, a veteran of Tour-Type Modified racing, has 107 feature wins and 12 championships at Bowman Gray Stadium. He has also won multiple championships in the SMART Modified Tour and the former NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.

The North-South Shootout will bring Myers back to a track where he has enjoyed considerable success.

“I’ve always loved Southern National,” Myers said. “Usually run really good there.”

Myers finished third when the SMART Modified Tour last visited Southern National in 2022. He is also a two-time North-South Shootout winner, claiming both victories when the event was held at Concord Speedway.

“The North-South Shootout is always a fun event,” Myers said. “It’s the best of the best that usually show up, so when you can take home a win in one of those events, it’s pretty special.”

Myers will face a field of 25 entries that includes nine-time Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series champion Matt Hirschman, who won the last Modified race at Southern National in 2022.

Other drivers entered include Andy Seuss, Ryan Newman, Carson Loftin, Cayden Lapcevich, Luke Baldwin and Brandon Ward.

Myers ranks the North-South Shootout among the premier events in Tour-Type Modified racing, alongside races at North Wilkesboro Speedway and South Boston Speedway.

“It’s the last race of the year for us basically, so everybody wants to go out on a high note,” Myers said.

The veteran driver said his goal for Saturday is simple.

“If I didn’t think that I had a shot to win, I wouldn’t go,” Myers said. “That’s why we go is to win and see if we can take home a trophy.”

In addition to the 125-lap Tour-Type Modified main event, Myers will compete in the 75-lap 602 Modified race.

Saturday’s six-race program also includes Legends, Chargers, Any Cars, and Vintage Modifieds and Sportsman.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
