Benson Police, Parks & Rec Launch New Camp For Middle School Students

BENSON, N.C. — Local middle school students will have the opportunity to build friendships, develop leadership skills and connect with community leaders during a new summer program coming to Benson.

The Benson Police Department and Benson Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to launch Camp BRIDGE, a three-day camp designed for students entering grades 6-8.

Scheduled for July 21-23, the program will provide participants with a variety of hands-on activities aimed at promoting teamwork, confidence and personal growth in a positive environment.

The name BRIDGE stands for Building Relationships, Inspiring Dreams, Gaining Excellence, reflecting the camp’s mission of strengthening connections between young people and the community while encouraging students to reach their full potential.

Throughout the three-day event, campers will participate in a wide range of activities including tie-dye projects, police demonstrations, games, sports and team-building exercises. Organizers say the program is designed to help students develop leadership skills while creating lasting memories with their peers.

Camp BRIDGE also offers participants a unique opportunity to interact with local law enforcement officers and recreation staff outside of traditional settings, helping foster positive relationships and mutual understanding.

Officials say the camp is intended to be both educational and fun, providing students with experiences that encourage cooperation, communication and self-confidence.

Parents and guardians interested in learning more about Camp BRIDGE or registering their child are encouraged to contact School Resource Officer Kliest at the Benson Police Department.

The camp is hosted jointly by the Benson Police Department and Benson Parks and Recreation Department.
