Carolina Aces To Hold Golf Tournament To Support Local Youth Baseball
SELMA — A Kenly-based youth baseball organization will hold its first annual golf tournament later this month to help support local players and keep the cost of travel baseball affordable for families.
The Carolina Aces Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23 at Cardinal Country Club, located at 363 Parrish Memorial Road in Selma. The four-person super ball tournament is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The tournament will be limited to 36 teams and will include prizes and a $10,000 hole-in-one challenge.
Proceeds will benefit the Carolina Aces Travel Baseball Organization, which was started in the fall of 2023 with one team and a goal of giving area children an opportunity to play competitive baseball closer to home.
The organization has since grown to include teams in the 8U, 10U, 11U and 12U age groups, including two 11U teams.
Organizers said the program was created to offer more than simply another place to play baseball.
The goal is to teach players the game the right way while emphasizing teamwork, respect and character. The organization also hopes to prepare its players for middle school and high school baseball, often alongside many of the same teammates they have played with while growing up.
Money raised through the golf tournament will help cover expenses such as equipment, uniforms, tournament fees, travel costs and player development while helping reduce the financial burden on participating families.
Registration information is available through the Carolina Aces organization.
