Clayton Clovers Ready To Knock It Out Of The Park In 2025

CLAYTON – “Take me out to the park…” where the first pitch is ready to be thrown. The Clayton Clovers are back at East Clayton Community Park, at 1774 Glen Laurel Road, bringing all the action for their 2025 season. The team kicks off their home games at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 25 against the Wake Forest Fungo.

Founded in 2021 by Louis DeCarolis and Caleb Sharp, the Clovers have quickly become a cornerstone of Clayton’s summer sports scene. With a roster that blends local talent with players from college programs across the country, the team provides thrilling baseball moments. After winning the 2024 Old North State League (ONSL) Championship, a prestigious title in collegiate summer baseball, the Clovers are hungry for another successful season.

Local players, like Hugh Collins, are thrilled to play for the Clovers in their hometown. “It means everything to be able to wear Clayton across my chest again,” said Collins, a Redshirt Freshman pitcher from UNC Chapel Hill and Pitt Community College. “There is no better feeling than playing in front of my hometown crowd. I really enjoy being alongside so many friends I grew up with since little league.”

For players like Hayden Myrick, a Senior pitcher from Mount Olive, Clayton has always held a special place in his heart. “Clayton has always been home. I loved being a Comet, and I loved being a Clover. It was a full-circle moment for me to play in the inaugural season with the Clovers and win that championship. I get to go back to games with my parents and support these guys the same way they supported me, and that’s what it’s all about.”

“I am excited to be back with the Clovers for my third season,” said Alex Levesque, a Sophomore catcher from William Peace University. “The local community always comes out to support the team, which makes playing in Clayton a great experience. I am hoping to bring another championship home this summer!”

The Clovers’ influence extends beyond the field, engaging with local businesses, hosting youth clinics, and offering a fun, kid-friendly environment at every game. Whether a lifelong fan or new to Clovers baseball, there’s something for everyone.

The welcoming atmosphere at East Clayton Community Park reflects the Town’s commitment to creating a dynamic environment. With family-oriented amenities like picnic areas, walking trails, and playgrounds, the park offers much more than just baseball. It’s a place where the entire community can come together, cheer on the team, and enjoy a variety of activities.

East Clayton Community Park is the perfect venue for the team, according to Parks and Recreation Director Scott Barnard. With its pristine field, well-maintained diamond, and spacious dugouts that provide comfort and equipment storage, the park sets the stage for the Clovers’ home games. Spectator seating ensures great views, and the PA system keeps fans connected to the action, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.

“The Town of Clayton is proud to partner with the Clovers and maintain a top-tier facility that enhances the game-day experience for fans and players alike,” said Parks and Recreation Director Scott Barnard. “We’re committed to keeping the park in great shape, so every game is a celebration of community and sportsmanship.”

Clayton Sports Club LLC owner Jeff Musgrove shared his excitement about the partnership with the Town of Clayton. “The Town of Clayton is in the fabric of the Clovers, and the Clovers are proud to represent the community as we compete in the Old North State League,” said Musgrove. “The partnership has contributed to success both on and off the field, and we look forward to working together for many years to come.”

Musgrove also credited the support from the Town of Clayton for the team’s prosperity, including their 39-3 record and Old North State League Championship last season. Looking ahead to 2025, he says he’s excited about the number of local players on the roster and the new fan experiences being developed, including concessions, merchandise, and game-day enhancements.
