Convenience Store Clerk Stole Money From Safe, Police Say

WILSON’S MILLS – A clerk at a Wilson’s Mills convenience store was arrested November 28. Wilson’s Mills Police charged James Clifford Howard, age 26, of Clayton with three felony counts of larceny by an employee.

On November 27, the manager of the Handy Mart reported an employee, Mr. Howard, had allegedly stolen money from a safe at the business. The alleged thefts happened three different times and were captured on a video surveillance camera. Altogether, approximately $600 in cash was stolen.

Howard was reportedly fired from the Handy Mart when he showed up for work on November 28. He was subsequently arrested by Wilson’s Mills police officers that same day.

  1. Wow, did he not think that he would not get caught. Well, I guess he did not. Now for $600.00 he ruined his life as this charge will follow him. He was a good man but he had to buy himself a Christmas present! Businesspeople, remember his face. You don’t want to give him a job.
