Crash Knocks Out Power To More Than 1,400 In McGee’s Crossroads Community

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A traffic accident near the intersection of B.H. Parrish Road and Sanders Road knocked down a utility pole Saturday afternoon, causing a widespread power outage in the McGee’s Crossroads area.

Approximately 1,434 Duke Energy customers lost power around 6 p.m.

The outage affected customers in a wide area including Sanders Road, B.H. Parrish Road, N.C. 50, Church Road, Two Claude Road, Old Fairground Road, Honeycutt Road, Dixon Road, Ennis Road, White Memorial Church Road and Landmark Road.

Duke Energy crews were working Saturday evening to restore service.

The company’s outage map estimated power would be restored by approximately 9 p.m.

Additional details about the traffic accident were not immediately available.
