Driver Pinned In Car After Collision With Concrete Mixer

SELMA – The State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash that briefly shut down a busy highway.

Around 3:00pm Tuesday, a southbound passenger car collided with a northbound concrete mixer truck on Highway 96 North of Selma at American Drive.

Both vehicles overturned after the collision.

The driver of the small car was pinned inside her vehicle. Thanksgiving Fire rescue personnel carefully used extrication tools to gain access to the driver. An EMS crew transported her to WakeMed for treatment of unknown injuries.

The driver of the concrete truck was shaken but otherwise uninjured.

NC Department of Transportation crews responded to the scene and made repairs to the damaged pavement before Highway 96 was reopened to traffic.
