NCDMV Revokes License Of NC Virtual Driver’s Ed

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has revoked the business license of NC Virtual Driver’s Ed, LLC and all licenses held by its instructors following an investigation that found multiple violations of state laws and administrative rules.

The revocation, effective Sept. 2, means the company, NCDMV Business License No. 1647, may no longer operate as a commercial driver training school in North Carolina.

According to NCDMV, investigators found the company failed to maintain required office hours and staffing, did not have enough qualified instructors and improperly counted non-instructional time toward the six hours of required behind-the-wheel training.

The investigation also identified problems involving refunds and completion certificates.

NCDMV said the company misrepresented the Division’s refund policies and linked classroom and behind-the-wheel services in a manner that restricted customers’ ability to receive refunds.

The agency also cited delays or refusals to issue refunds and completion certificates, along with other related violations.

Company Did Not Accept Probation Agreement

Before revoking the licenses, NCDMV placed NC Virtual Driver’s Ed on probationary status and offered the business a Probationary Agreement that included a corrective action plan.

The company had until Aug. 31 to accept the agreement but did not do so, according to NCDMV.

As a result, the Division revoked the company’s commercial driver training school license and all associated instructor licenses.

Refunds, Certificates Due By Oct. 15

Although the company can no longer operate, NCDMV said NC Virtual Driver’s Ed remains responsible for providing completion certificates for services students have already completed and issuing refunds for payments received for services that were never provided.

The Division has directed the company to fulfill those obligations by Oct. 15, 2026.

Any completion certificate issued by the company must carry the actual date the coursework was completed.

NCDMV Driver License Offices will not accept paperwork issued by NC Virtual Driver’s Ed on or after Sept. 2, the effective date of the license revocation.

Services completed before the revocation remain valid. Customers who received completion certificates dated before Sept. 2 may continue using those certificates for driver education purposes.

Customers who do not receive a properly dated completion certificate or refund by the Oct. 15 deadline, or who have other concerns related to the matter, are encouraged to contact the NCDMV School Bus and Traffic Safety Unit.
