Eagle Scout Ceremony Held For Ryan Klimp

CLAYTON – On Saturday, April 29th, an Eagle Scout Ceremony was held for Eagle Scout Ryan Klimp from Boy Scout Troop 33 of Oakland Presbyterian Church of Clayton. Ryan, the son of Scott and Gina Klimp, was presented with an Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award from Eagle Scout Coordinator Bob Long, Past Commandant Bo Durham, and Judge Advocate Richard Arthur on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment 1236.

When a young person becomes a BSA Scout there is within them something that we call the spirit of Scouting. Ryan received that spirit at the age of six tagging along with his older brother Noah on various scouting adventures. He officially joined Cub Scouts as a member of Pack 64, chartered at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, after 2 years of being an “honorary Scout” in his brother
Noah’s den. Ryan completed his Webelos and Arrow of Light with Pack 57 in 2016 and crossed over to Troop 33 in March 2016, at Oakland Presbyterian Church. Ryan attended the 2017 National Scout Jamboree as a Council Scout of Troop 4421 in West Virginia. Ryan has completed National Youth Leadership Training, or “NYLT”, and served as a staff member for Wood badge Class S7-424-21. Ryan also earned his Ordeal in the Order of the Arrow at Nayawin RaR Lodge in the Tuscarora Council. In addition, Ryan served as the Troop-33 Senior Patrol Leader during the shutdown of our nation.

Ryan is a senior at Cleveland High School. He is an active multi-sport athlete, Vice President of the National Honor Society, and loves lifting weights. After high school, Ryan is planning to study Exercise Science and Biology.
