WILLOW SPRING – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early-morning shooting in the Willow Spring community.
Around 1:22am Friday, deputies responded to a home on Morehead Drive for a report of a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Based on an initial investigation, authorities believe the individual was holding a handgun when it discharged, grazing his hand and striking him in the leg.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Authorities said the incident appears to be accidental, however it remains under investigation.
