Family Dollar Employee Facing Charges After Theft Investigation
SELMA, N.C. — A 42-year-old Smithfield man was arrested following a report of employee theft, according to the Selma Police Department.
Officers responded to Family Dollar at 107 N. Pollock St. around 12:30 p.m. on March 31 after the store manager alleged an employee had stolen $2,848. Upon arrival, police identified the suspect as Christopher Scott Englehart of Brogden Road. Authorities stated Englehart was in the process of writing a statement for the business explaining the alleged theft when they arrived.

During the arrest, officers reportedly discovered a concealed .38 caliber revolver in Englehart’s waistband. Police noted he did not possess a concealed carry permit. Additionally, a search revealed three small bags containing approximately 0.5 grams of a white powdery substance, which Englehart allegedly admitted was cocaine.
Englehart is charged with felony larceny by an employee, felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon
Englehart was transported to the Johnston County Detention Center. He was jailed under a $20,000 bond.
