Flame For Learning Semifinalists Announced

Johnston County Teacher of the Year to be Named on April 25th

SMITHFIELD – The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2023 semifinalists for the Flame for Learning Award. The recipient of the award is named the Johnston County Teacher of the Year and will represent Johnston County Public Schools in the North Carolina Teacher of the Year competition.

The Chamber adopted the Flame for Learning Award because of the importance of teachers in developing and educating children. In so doing, it is the Board of Directors’ goal to support and elevate the teaching profession in the public schools.

The award recognizes outstanding creativity and innovation in the classroom and nominees are selected strictly on merit, without regard to school or residence.

Johnston County’s Teacher of the Year will be named at the 29th Annual Triangle East Flame for Learning Award Ceremony on April 25th, 2023. The event will take place from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at The Barn at Broadslab in Benson.

The Flame for Learning Award is presented by Chick-fil-A of Smithfield. Through a nomination process, teachers in Johnston County were invited to submit a “best idea or practice” used by that teacher. The winner of the Flame for Learning award will represent Johnston County in the regional competition.
