Former Aberdeen Police Lieutenant Arrested On Child Sex Charges

HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has arrested former Aberdeen Police Lieutenant Leigh Ann Brooks.

On Dec. 2, 2025, the Aberdeen Police Chief asked the SBI to initiate an investigation after his department received an allegation of sexual assault. SBI agents recently completed a thorough investigation and presented the findings to the Hoke County District Attorney’s Office for review. As a result, Brooks has now been charged with five counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child, four counts of Felony Statutory Rape/Sex Offense of a Child, and one count of Felony Sex Offense – Parental Role.

On September 9, Brooks was taken into custody by members of the SBI. She was transported to the Hoke County Detention Center, where she was brought before a Magistrate. Brooks received no bond and will have a first appearance soon.

The SBI investigation remains open, and we will release additional information when available.
