Four Oaks Acorn Festival Returns Sept. 12

FOUR OAKS, N.C. – The Four Oaks Acorn Festival will return to downtown Four Oaks Saturday, Sept. 12, bringing a classic car and truck show, children’s activities, vendors, food trucks and live entertainment to Main Street.

The festival will be held from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and will include the Four Oaks Chamber Autofest, a health fair and activities throughout the downtown area.

Autofest registration will be held from 8 until 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $25 per vehicle. Classic cars and trucks will compete for awards including Best in Era, Overall Winner and People’s Choice. Awards will be presented at 2:45 p.m.

A cash award will also be presented to the car club with the most registered vehicles. The first 100 vehicles registered will receive a specially designed hat.

Other festival attractions will include a vendor market, handcrafted market, kids entrepreneur market, business expo, food trucks and Camp Flintlock, which will offer colonial-era demonstrations and activities. There will be live entertainment, inflatables and a Smithfield Tobs speed pitch among the attractions.

A Kid Zone will include a trackless train, rock wall, Scarecrow Slide, Wizzer, Cart Wheel Ride and Fun Fair Park Jr. Playland.

Unlimited-ride armbands are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the festival.

The Four Oaks Chamber Foundation will also hold a health fair from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Organizers said healthcare and community organizations will offer information and resources related to health, dental and vision care, safety and family services.

Free shuttle service will be available between parking at the Johnston Community College Four Oaks campus and the downtown festival area.

Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Joan Pritchett said the festival provides an opportunity to bring visitors downtown while supporting local businesses and organizations.
