JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help a Johnston County mother and her two young daughters after a weekend fire destroyed their home and nearly everything inside.

Jacquline Weston said she was working in Raleigh around noon Saturday when she received the devastating call that her home on Denton Lane, near Zebulon in the Corinth Holders community, was on fire.

By the time she arrived, the home was already destroyed.

“There is very little I can salvage, maybe a few pictures, but it’s a total loss,” Weston told The Johnston County Report. “I literally have the clothes on my back.”

Weston and her daughters, ages 7 and 9, lost nearly all of their belongings in the fire. She said the emotional impact has been especially difficult because the house had been in her family for many years.

The home originally belonged to her grandparents. Weston also lost her mother in December 2024, making the loss even more painful.

“My world has been turned upside down twice in 18 months,” she said.

Weston said the home was uninsured.

Despite the overwhelming loss, Weston said she remains grateful that no one was inside the home when the fire broke out.

“We are grateful that no one was at home,” she said. “So many things we lost are irreplaceable, but we are grateful to be here.”

The family’s two dogs survived, but a cat and a reptile remained missing following the fire.

Weston and her daughters are currently staying with relatives while they search for more permanent housing and begin rebuilding their lives.

Firefighters from multiple departments in Johnston and Wake counties responded to the blaze and were able to bring the fire under control within a short time. However, the home and its contents were destroyed.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire but was unable to determine an exact cause.

Friends and community members have since organized a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with immediate needs including clothing, housing, food and other essentials.

  1. I know everyone who reads this can spare something. What a wonderful thing that JocoReport posted the GoFundMe. I donated, y’all should too! Think if this was you!

  2. God knows my heart is definitely heavy for them. But I can only imagine what they are going through, cause as a single mother of two boys and 3 cars with no help with my struggles I barely have enough to for myself. My son can’t walk across the stage cause I can’t afford his graduation stuff. I will be praying for them.

    • There’s always something you can do to make money! There are mystery shop websites, gofundme accounts, loans, or even wonderful churches in our area to help. To read you say your son can’t walk because you can’t get his graduation stuff is really sad, but you can do something about it!

    • check with your guidance office at your school, they may have extra cap & gowns just for those who can’t afford them…
