Harnett County Road Closure Planned For Drainage Improvements

HARNETT COUNTY – A portion of Overhills Road in Harnett County will close next week while N.C. Department of Transportation crews replace a drainage pipe.

The closure will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, and is expected to remain in place until the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 28.

Crews will replace an existing 18-inch crossline drainage pipe near Elliott Bridge Road with a larger pipe.

NCDOT said a review by its Hydraulics Unit determined additional drainage capacity was needed to allow more water to safely pass beneath the roadway.

The work is being completed ahead of a planned resurfacing project on Overhills Road later this year.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured using Lasater Road, N.C. 210 and Elliott Bridge Road.
