“He Was Always There For His Family”: Pedestrian Killed Near Selma Identified

SELMA, N.C. – The State Highway Patrol has identified the pedestrian killed early Sunday morning on Buffalo Road as 28-year-old Brian Segura of Homestead Drive, Selma. The fatal collision occurred around 6:31 a.m. near the intersection of Buffalo Road and Live Oak Church Road.

According to troopers, Segura was lying motionless in the southbound travel lane of Buffalo Road when he was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver of the vehicle, and an independent witness, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities.

Segura died at the scene and was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for an autopsy.

The Highway Patrol said there were no contributing factors for the driver and no charges were filed.

In the wake of his death, Segura’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses.

Segura was described as “…a very special person to us, known for his humor, laughter, love, and kindness. He was always there for his family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.”
