Highway Patrol: Teen Running Across Buffalo Road Struck By Pickup Truck

CLAYTON, N.C. -A 15-year-old was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck.

According to the State Highway Patrol, troopers responded around 5:21 p.m. to an injury accident involving a pedestrian on Buffalo Road near NC 42 East.

Investigators said a 15-year-old male was running across Buffalo Road when he was struck by a southbound Ford F-150.

The truck was driven by a 49 year-old Selma woman. Troopers said the driver was slowing for a red light and traveling below the posted speed limit when the collision occurred.

Authorities said the teen was not crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The teenager was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.

Multiple witnesses at the scene assisted investigators.

Troopers said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, and no charges will be filed.
