“It is a privilege to provide grants to local nonprofits and community organizations,” said LaShawndra White, advisory board president of the Johnston County Community Foundation. “Our commitment to permanent philanthropy strengthens our communities.”

Funds for 2025 grants came from JCCF’s community grantmaking fund, the Cara Lee Powell Priest Endowment Fund, the Lorraine Cooper Endowment Fund and the Carolina Youth Theatre Fund for Arts Education. Each year, JCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

JCCF is also accepting nominations through Oct. 30 for the Frances Finch Hobart Award for Volunteer Community Service. Established in 2006, the award is presented annually to someone from Johnston County who has demonstrated a commitment to service resulting in a stronger community. The recipient of the award designates a local nonprofit organization to receive a $2,300 grant.
