Johnston County Man Arrested Following Standoff With Wayne County Law Enforcement

GOLDSBORO – A Johnston County man is in custody following a standoff this afternoon (Monday). It started around 1:15pm when the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man armed with a gun in the parking lot of the Hope Extended Ministry Center at 1138 Rosewood Road.

The caller told deputies the man was waving a firearm in the air and had fired several shots. Deputies made contact with the individual and following a short standoff, the man surrendered peacefully.

Detectives began processing the area for evidence and found at least one window had been shot out at the Hope Extended Ministry Center building. At the time of the incident, two people were inside the building. Detectives have not been unable to determine if the two individuals were targeted.

During the incident, Rosewood community schools were briefly placed on a soft lockdown.

Zachary Hardison, age 36, of Riverwood Drive, Clayton is charged with three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of resisting arrest.

  1. Sick. Glad no one was hurt including Deputies and civilians. The man with the gun sure is lucky, He almost became holey, and I don’t mean by religion.
