
NETWON GROVE – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect who reportedly broke into two vehicles parked outside a southern Johnston County church.
The incident happened April 27, 2022 at Hood’s Grove Baptist Church at 677 Hood’s Grove Church Road, Newton Grove. A security camera at the church captured the suspect arrive in his Cadillac, enter the cars, then leave without being noticed.
Authorities have now identified the suspect as Michael Antonio Chasten, age 39, of Magnolia, NC. Chasten has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and one count of misdemeanor larceny.
Chasten was located August 8 by Raleigh Police and served with the Johnston County warrants.
Chasten is also facing charges from Asheville, NC Police for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. That alleged incident happened in July 2022.
