Man Charged With 67 Counts Of Sexual Exploitation

CLAYTON – A Clayton-area resident arrested Feb. 15 for animal cruelty and crimes against nature is facing more charges.

Nathaniel Rogers Truitt, age 25, of Corbett Road, is now charged with 67 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

On Feb. 15, a family member borrowed a computer belonging to Truitt and while using the computer located a hidden file. The file allegedly contained images and videos of Nathaniel Truitt killing cats. The family member notified law enforcement.

Deputies seized the computer as part of the investigation. A forensic search of the computer reportedly uncovered 67 images of child pornography.

Truitt, who had been released on a $25,000 secured bond Feb. 15 on the animal cruelty and crimes against nature offenses, was rearrested Feb. 20 on the 67 felony warrants. At last report, he remains in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $2 million secured bond.

  1. There is a known link between the killing of animals and the killing of people. This dude needs some serious therapy. And while his mental health won’t get better behind bars, due to the jail culture, there should be some place where people like him can be sentenced to therapy and work detail for a period of time- perhaps 1 year for each animal and 1 month for each image. Our justice system is a FAIL.

      • My children were never in the position where that would ever happen. The article didn’t say he committed the crimes. He has photos. They are all over the internet and possibly even accessed by a member of your family. Trust no one, really.
FYI – I’ve done my research and its proven that jail does nothing good for the majority of perps – not in the long term and usually not in the short-term either. We need to bring back the mental institutions – but as we’ve grown in our understanding of mental problems, they need to be completely overhauled compared to the prior ways of managing them. And we need to bring back quick and just punishments. And while we are dreaming, let’s bring back the nuclear families and bring back God into our schools and homes.

    • He’s beyond therapy. Someone didn’t love him enough or noticed that he needed therapy before the kitties were slain. I do not believe, no way in hell, this person can talk his way into healing from sadistic crimes against nature. Good for whomever turned him in. This SOB will absolutely be back in the news….

    • It is NOT possible to rehabilitate this “person”. He committed Crimes Against Nature on several cats and recorded himself doing it. Please, if you don’t know, lookup what “Crimes Against Nature” means because they won’t let me post the meaning here. But it is very much worse than killing cats. Thank goodness he is locked up, hopefully forever!

  2. Now please keep that sick, evil demented individual there and off the streets. He deserves to be locked up forever. Thanks to all who put him back in jail.

  3. I’ll be holding my two sweet cats extra tight tonight, I can’t imagine someone doing that. This guy needs to be thrown UNDER the jail!

  4. A family member “located” a hidden file? Were they snooping, or maybe knew he was up to something and “borrowed” the computer so they could find proof. Either way, I can’t believe he gave out his computer with stuff like that on it. I hope that family member is safe.

  5. This man was born broken. There is no fixing a sadistic sociopath, so in a just world he would never live free another day. Unfortunately, his known crimes don’t warrant a life sentence, so he’ll be back. And he will pick up where he left off, only angrier.
