Man Charged With Second DWI In Less Than 2 Months

SELMA – Selma Police arrested Ray Parker Jr., 29, of Greenville, on January 5 following a hit-and-run crash in downtown Selma. Parker faces charges of driving while impaired, hit and run, driving on a revoked license, open container of alcohol, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Police responded around 7:50 p.m. to a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole at East Preston Street and South Raiford Street. Officers found a black Mazda CX-9 crashed into the pole, but the vehicle was unoccupied.

Authorities allege Parker took the vehicle sometime earlier without the owner’s knowledge, fled the accident scene, and went to a nearby home on Sellers Street before police arrived. Officers observed injuries consistent with the crash, including a bleeding lip and a cut on his cheek, as well as signs of impairment. Police said Parker refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test.

At the time of the accident, Parker was out on bond awaiting trial for a DWI arrest by Greenville, NC Police on November 13, 2025. In that incident, court records show he registered 0.25 on a Breathalyzer, more than three times the legal limit. He was released on a $2,000 bond in November.

Parker was held on a $50,000 secured bond following his arrest in Selma.

  1. Glad he didn’t kill an innocent family or child which could have easily happen. They keep letting them out and put it off until something bad happens.
