SMITHFIELD – Police are investigating an altercation in a business parking lot that led to a gun being fired and a man injured.
Officers responded to the incident at 12:18am Saturday outside Walmart at 1299 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.
Police said a 47 year-old Salisbury, NC man was trying to sleep in his car and became upset when bright headlights from another vehicle shined on his vehicle.
The man got into an altercation with another individual which led to a gun being fired into the ground by the second person. The bullet ricocheted off the ground striking the victim in his foot.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
Police are working to identify the person who fired the gun.

Walmart allows it for a certain number of days. You can even bring your RV. The complaints department however is probably closed

Maybe he just needed to pull over and take a little nap. Maybe he just lost everything. Maybe he started feeling sick. Who knows. Where’s the compassion anymore for other human beings?
Maybe what you’re saying is correct but is you park in a parking lot chances are other vehicles are going to drive by and have their headlights on. Did not give the man the right to blow his cool. The other man could have been scared when he pulled his gun. It was obvious his intention was not to shoot the man sleeping. Bad circumstance but the man with the gun should have waited for the Sheriff or the Police to arrive.
