Man Jailed After Reporting His Car Stolen

CLAYTON – A Clayton-area man who reported his car stolen went to jail in handcuffs. Christopher Lamar Krause, age 33, of the 1200 block of Jack Road, was arrested by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 28 around 6:29pm, deputies responded to a call from Krause, who allegedly reported his car had been stolen from his driveway, sometime between 11:00am and 4:00pm that day.

During questioning, Krause allegedly admitted his car had not been stolen, rather a friend had been driving the vehicle and was involved in a traffic accident.

Krause was detained on charges of filing a false police report and resisting a public officer. During a routine search, suspected cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was allegedly found in his possession.

Krause was charged with one felony and four misdemeanor offenses. He was held under a $20,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.
