After the second day of the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition, a local young lady and a local business were big winners. Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen, Catherine White of Clayton, won the preliminary award for Evening Wear/On-Stage Question in a custom gown from Downtown Smithfield’s own Jewel’s Formals.
“Cat’s goal going into state competition was to have an awe inspiring, yet fashion forward wardrobe that conveyed timeless elegant with a bit of teenage flair,” stated Kim Johnson, Owner of Jewel’s Formals.
“Moving onto the national stage, we furthered that vision with a custom, one-of-a-kind Swarovski encrusted top with floral pattern and scalloped edges. Paired with a classic white satin trumpet skirt, Cat truly was an all-American teen dream,” Mrs. Johnson said.
”Creating this gown and having this opportunity was such an exciting experience and we are very grateful to Cat, her family and the Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen Organization,” she said.
Jewel’s Formals has been in business in Downtown Smithfield since 1991.
