A motorist sustained serious injuries in a two vehicle accident in northern Johnston County. The 2:29pm Saturday accident was reported on NC Highway 96 North at Antioch Church Road.
The Highway Patrol said a teenage driver was operating a 2007 Ford passenger car on Antioch Church Road. The driver pulled from a stop sign to cross over Highway 96, but pulled into the path of a 2002 Jeep SUV traveling north on Highway 96.
The Ford came to rest in the roadway. The Jeep ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to Wake Med for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. The teen driver was evaluated at the scene by EMS but was not transported to the hospital.
