Danny Warren Gordon

Danny Warren Gordon, 68, of Selma passed away on March 23, 2026 at Wilson Medical Center in good company.

He was born in Johnston County on June 19, 1957 to Alice Faye Warren and Billy Gordon Sr. After graduating from Chocowinity High School in 1976, he went on to join the U.S. Navy where he served 3 years. Once back in Selma, he learned carpentry and dedicated his life to the trade and his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Danielle Haddock (Jordan) and Brittany Gordon of Princeton; grandchildren, Charlie and Andrew Haddock; and brothers, Frankie Gordon, Landon Gordon, Billy Gordon Jr., Joe Jones and sister, Mary Ellen Barnett (Jeff). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony Gordon.

Danny lived life loud and outside the lines. He will be remembered fondly for his stubbornness and great love for his daughters, whom he raised alone as the pride and joy of his life. He was quick to say that Danielle was in charge but Brittany was his favorite, roles they both lived up to and frequently reminded him of. He was often seen barreling around town on his Harley-Davidson, with no particular place to go but always in a hurry to get there. His favorite color was denim. His slice of Heaven was his own backyard, tinkering in his barn or burning something on the grill. He was fond of sweet tea, George Dickel, and Dutch Master cigars. His signature style was a white t-shirt and bib overalls if you were lucky or jean shorts that could never find his waist if you were unlucky. He could make you laugh and cuss, always hugged you like he meant it, loved loud classic rock and any book by Louis L’Amour.

Danny left his girls and grandsons in the hands of his partner-in-crime and longtime friend Ray Slocum. Danny showed Ray the best back roads to travel on two wheels; Ray often reminded Danny to slow down a bit and enjoy the ride.

The family will meet privately Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with Pastor David Sutphin for prayer and a final goodbye. Staying true to the spirit of Danny, no formal service will be held as he would have hated it and probably arrived late. Instead, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, there will be a gathering of friends and family at another place he loved to tell lies and fellowship: ‘The Shop’, 1868 Old Cornwallis Road, Princeton, NC 27569. Please come as you are to celebrate a man who lived life out loud.

The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff at Wilson Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the 5 years he spent in their care. He wasn’t always a willing participant, but they loved him just the same.

Please save your money on flowers and consider a donation to the ministry that gave Danny the gift of safe entry to his home many years ago: Princeton Baptist Church, Re: Ramp Ministry in Honor of Danny Gordon, PO Box 215, Princeton, NC 27579.

On the next warm day, roll your windows down, turn your music up loud and hit the gas, just the way our Papa Bear would have liked it.

Online condolences may be left for the family at parrishfh.com.
