Doris Jackson Hobin

    GRAFTON – Doris J. (Jackson) Hobin, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18th, surrounded by her loving daughters, after a 10 year battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

    Doris leaves her daughter Anji O’Malley and her significant other Bob Desroches of Spencer, and her daughter Kelly Merrill and her significant other Jesse Plaud of Millbury. Doris, affectionately known as “Mimi”, also leaves her grandchildren Connor and Morgan O’Malley and Jacob and Sophia Merrill. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves her former husband, Raymond Hobin, Jr. of Millbury. Doris will be greatly missed by her brother Stacy Jackson, sisters Hazel Stephenson and Dianne Etheridge, and many nieces and nephews who reside in North Carolina.

    The eldest daughter of Jasper and Mildred (Norris) Jackson, Doris was born and raised in Smithfield, North Carolina. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1966. Doris moved to Massachusetts in 1975, settling in Millbury where she raised her daughters. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, country music, Hallmark movies, and loved her grand-dog Peanut so very much.

    Doris spent the majority of her career doing medical billing for Haelen Medical Center and UMASS Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2012 due to illness. Doris often spent her Sundays working security at Indian Ranch for celebrities such as The Charlie Daniels Band. In her free time, Doris enjoyed bartending at The Anchor Lounge and volunteering at Shaw Elementary School, both in Millbury.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing Center and Brookhaven Hospice for the loving care they provided Doris over the past 6 weeks.

    Family and friends will remember and celebrate Doris’s life with a time of visitation on Monday, December 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N Main Street, Millbury.

    A celebration of life will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Masks are optional.
